Innovative Tech For Visually Impaired at CES’24

The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2024 showcased an array of innovative devices designed to cater to the needs of individuals with low vision and various eye-related issues.

These devices include smart glasses that can augment vision and provide real-time assistance, advanced magnifiers that can magnify text and images, and even eye-tracking technology to help people with mobility issues control their electronic devices.

SMART BELT NAVIGATION AID

GUIDi is an AI-powered smart belt designed to help visually impaired individuals navigate their environment more independently.

The device uses MEMS and AI technology, dual wide-angle cameras, a custom edge AI module with sensor integration, a haptic navigation system, and voice command to create a personal and intelligent navigation system that doesn't rely on the internet or GPS.

It also has a mobile app with voice command support and over-the-air updates for continuous improvement.

TECH BREAKTHROUGH FOR AMD VISION LOSS

EyeCane is a solution designed to help individuals suffering from age-related macular degeneration (AMD), a leading cause of vision loss. These smart glasses use a 4K camera and mobile app to capture and display images in real-time, helping individuals with AMD regain some of their lost vision.

The device uses augmented reality and has a small 4K optical image stabiliser camera that captures images in real time and overlays them onto the peripheral field of view.

The specially designed mobile app allows AMD patients to regain their lost vision and independence.

The range of technology showcased at CES this year will significantly impact the lives of those who struggle with vision-related challenges.
