A retirement village in Half Moon Bay, Auckland, has been granted resource consent with conditions by an independent fast-track consenting panel.
Summerset Village applied for permission to build a comprehensive care retirement village with 217 independent living units and 103 care units, as well as various facilities such as a café, restaurant, games room, and gym. The application was made under the COVID-19 Recovery (Fast-track Consenting) Act 2020.
The expert panel granted resource consent after 117 working days, not including when processing was suspended at the applicant's request. The Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) was not involved in the decision-making. However, it provided advice and administrative support for the panel convener, Judge Laurie Newhook, and the expert consenting panels he appointed.
