FOCUS ON AGED CARE VIRUS RESPONSE

The Government has announced a review of six aged care facilities that have reported COVID-19 cases and how they have responded – and how others have prepared. It was reported that a number of facilities had managed to quickly contain the situation with no further transmissions.

The Government has openly recognised that dedicated management and staff had been working tirelessly to manage their facilities and praised the containment carried out by most of the 850 aged care operations in New Zealand. Having so few of the facilities affected has been a credit to preparations and restrictions in contrast to results in many other countries.
