AUSTRALIA | Nicole Turner has officially become the Chief Executive Officer of the Aboriginal Health and Medical Research Council.
The Aboriginal Health and Medical Research Council Board has announced that Nicole Turner has been officially appointed as the Chief Executive Officer, after serving as interim CEO for the last eight months.
A proud Kamilaroi woman, Turner has demonstrated exceptional leadership and commitment to the organisation and our Member Services. Given her extensive health experience, expertise in sector governance and her significant impact as the interim CEO, the Board believes that Turner will continue to provide strong leadership for the AH&MRC. Her appointment will enable us to continue to support our Member Services to deliver the best outcomes for Aboriginal people in NSW.
Turner has longstanding ties to the organisation from her career in research and as a former member of the AH&MRC Ethics Committee. Her career spans over 25 years, having held leadership positions in academia, not-for-profit and allied health organisations, including the Rural Doctors Network and as the chairperson of Indigenous Allied Health Australia.
She has made significant contributions to improve Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health outcomes at both the state and national level, driven by her commitment to systemic change. Her dedication to advancing health reform will undoubtedly be an asset to the organisation.
Chairperson, Jamie Newman said that the Board is proud to appoint Turner to the permanent CEO role and lead the organisation through its next phase.
“Our Board is pleased to have secured Nicole to provide stability to our staff and Member Services, as well as strengthening relationships with our state and national partners. We are confident that Nicole will lead the organisation forward and provide the consistency needed to effectively support our communities across NSW”
Turner has said she is looking forward to officially taking on the mantle as CEO and is excited to take the organisation forward.
“I am honoured to be given the opportunity to lead the AH&MRC into the future as a strong peak body for Aboriginal health in NSW. I would like to thank the Board of Directors, Members and our staff for their ongoing support and I look forward to continuing to work closely with you all and our stakeholders to drive positive change.”
