AUSTRALIA | ARIIA has recieved a $13 million investment from the Australian Federal Government to drive innovation in the sector.
The Australian Government has invested a further AUD $13 million to drive innovation across the aged care sector.
This investment in Aged Care Research and Industry Innovation Australia (ARIIA) will help the scaling of innovative care models and workforce solutions.
Minister for Aged Care Anika Wells said she was determined to progress aged care away from institution and towards innovation.
“Innovation drives efficiency and empowers the sector to deliver policies that are responsive to the evolving needs of older people,” said Wells.
“This continuation of funding for ARIIA will enable it to empower our aged care sector with the skills and capability required to implement evidence-based practice that supports the delivery of safe, efficient and quality care for older people.”
It will allow ARIIA to continue to contribute to the quality of aged care by advising the sector on the skills, technology and know-how to deliver innovative, person-centred care.
ARIIA’s work helps government and the aged care sector better understand how people age, what healthy ageing looks like, opportunities for innovation and best practice in aged care.
This Albanese Government investment will allow ARIIA to continue its current work and also establish an Aged Care Innovation Network and Community of Practice.
“ARIIA welcomes the continued support from the federal government to improve aged care workforce capability and the quality of care offered to older Australians. With this support, ARIIA will build upon the progress and knowledge gained over the past three years, collaborating closely with key stakeholders to maintain the momentum of change,” said ARIIA CEO Reuban Jacob.
“Encouraging innovation and supporting its implementation across the aged care and home care sectors is crucial if we are to deliver the high-quality, person-centred experience that older Australians want in the 21st century.”
Formed in 2021 ARIIA has so far built a Knowledge and Implementation Hub that provides trusted, easy to use and up-to-date information and resources, assisted hundreds of aged care workers to develop local, innovative solutions and implement change in their workplaces through its Innovator Training Program, and funded over 60 projects through its Research Grants Program.
