Two of the country’s largest retirement villages, Ryman and Summerset, have increased staff wages during the lockdown. Ryman Healthcare has increased staff pay by $2 an hour, and Summerset Group has raised wages by $3 an hour during the lockdown.
Both say it is to thank the staff caring for the combined nearly 20,000 residents. All retirement villages and aged care facilities are closed to visitors during alert level 4.
