Banks help Seniors get Tech-Savvy

banking with senior

Age Concern estimates that 30% of seniors do not use the internet. With banks phasing out cheques, seniors may not be set up to pay their bills online.

Learning new technology can be daunting, especially for the older generation. Scam stories put some off; others are fearful of making mistakes or forgetting passwords.

Both ANZ and ASB have partnered with Age Concern to set up workshops to offer guidance and advice for online banking and how to use smart devices in general. These workshops educate the older generation with one-on-one tutoring, providing advice on monitoring and managing their money online safely and watching for scams.

Older adults may be disappointed by the phasing out of cheques, so learning about safe online banking is essential.
