AUSTRALIA | Elder Abuse Action Australia (EAAA) is pleased to welcome Claire Van Heyningen as the newest member of its Board.

Van Heyningen brings more than 20 years of experience in marketing, communications, and community engagement, with a strong focus on making a positive difference in people’s lives. She is currently the General Manager of Marketing and Communications at MTC FutureReady, where she helps lead programs that support people to build skills, confidence, and brighter futures.

Van Heyningen’s career has taken her from creative agencies where she led award-winning campaigns to the not-for-profit sector, where she has worked on projects supporting inclusion, wellbeing, and access to services like the NDIS. Her work blends creativity and strategy with a deep commitment to social justice.

She holds a Graduate Certificate in Management and is currently completing a Master of Business Psychology. She has also completed the Foundations of Directorship course through the Australian Institute of Company Directors and is a Social Impact Fellow through the Social Impact Hub.

“I’m honoured to join the Board of EAAA and contribute to such vital work,” said Van Heyningen. “Older people have the right to live with dignity, safety, and respect and I’m committed to helping amplify the voices of those too often overlooked. I look forward to using my skills to support EAAA’s efforts to drive real change”.

EAAA Co-Chair Sue Leitch said Van Heyningen’s appointment brings valuable new perspectives to the Board and reflects EAAA’s commitment to strong, purpose-driven leadership.

“Claire brings fresh energy and deep expertise to our Board. Her background in communications and social impact will be incredibly valuable as we continue working to raise awareness of elder abuse and drive national change. We’re thrilled to have her join us.”

Fellow Co-Chair Diedre Timms also welcomed Van Heyningen’s appointment.
“Claire’s strong understanding of community engagement and digital strategy will help EAAA reach more people, more meaningfully. Her insight will be an asset as we work to strengthen national responses to elder abuse and ensure older people are seen, heard, and supported.”

EAAA looks forward to working with Van Heyningen as it continues building a national movement to prevent elder abuse and promote the rights of older Australians.
