Care England Joins Providers Unite

Providers Unite

UK | Care England has joined Providers Unite in its attempt to demand the Government to take decisive action on the sector's future.

This month, Providers Unite, a coalition of dedicated individuals and organisations from across the care sector, has agreed to come together to take decisive action and demand the reforms needed to safeguard the future of social care.

Whether members are care providers, work in care, care recipients, or work in any aspect of the sector, Providers Unite has invited all its members to join the cause.

Care England has described this as a critical moment to show the Government that social care cannot be ignored any longer.

“The social care sector is at breaking point, and yet again, the Government has failed to act. Providers are being pushed to the brink, while those who rely on care services face growing uncertainty. The increase in National Insurance Contributions is yet another financial burden that care providers simply cannot afford,” said Care England Chief Executive Professor Martin Green OBE.

“This is not just a crisis for providers, it is a crisis for the millions of people who depend on social care every day. The Government must understand that without urgent reform and sustainable funding, the entire system is at risk of collapse.”

Green added that for too long, successive Governments have overlooked the sector, relying on its resilience to weather crisis after crisis. But he said the latest changes to National Insurance Contributions (NICs) threaten to push many providers beyond breaking point. Without urgent intervention, vital care services will be lost, leaving those who rely on them at risk.

He said that this is a unique opportunity for the industry to send the message that enough is enough.

“We will not accept continued inaction. We will be there, and we need you there too. Together, we can drive the change our sector desperately needs. We need real action, and we need it now,” said Green.
