AUSTRALIA | Bupa has partnered with Healthe Care, which has included a commitment to work in areas of priority to patient outcomes.

Healthe Care and Bupa have announced a renewed hospital partnership, with patient experience and certainty around care key features of the agreement which acknowledges and supports the sustainability of the private health sector.

The new two-year agreement includes a commitment to work together in priority areas where patient outcomes can be improved by reducing complications or readmissions to hospital following discharge. It also strives to balance the rising costs facing private hospitals with sustainable funding models, and building in recognition of the importance of regional hospitals for our customer base.

Healthe Care’s new agreement with Bupa covers its network of 17 private hospitals across New South Wales, Victoria and Tasmania with many in regional and outer suburban areas.

“We are pleased to have agreed to funding terms with Bupa that provide surety for our patients and recognise the challenges of the current operating environment,” said Healthe Care Chief Executive Officer Matt Hanrahan.

“The agreement recognises the need for quality private hospital services, with accessibility and choice for patients in urban and regional areas.”

Bupa Health Insurance Acting Managing Director Kate Williams said the partnership with Healthe Care helps ensure Australians have access to the right care, in the right place, at the right time.

“This agreement demonstrates our shared values of patient care and shows what’s possible when a health insurer and hospital group work together,” Williams said.

“We understand the pressures rising costs of living place on our customers. Our collaboration with Healthe Care aims to provide certainty around costs to patients and peace of mind that they’ll receive the best possible care when they need it most.”

Bupa’s renewed partnership with Healthe Care is the latest agreement between Bupa and its hospital partners, including St Vincent’s Health Australia, Mater Health and a recently announced partnership between Bupa and Ramsay Health Care to develop the next generation of nurses through an innovative new graduate program. Bupa continues to have one of the largest hospital networks in Australia.
