NEW ZEALAND | The Aotearoa Aged Care Action Plan is a sector-sourced and sector-endorsed call to action for our aged care sector.
By 2028, roughly 25 percent of our population will be over 65. For a variety of reasons, there is no clear, overarching plan to support this cohort effectively. We simply are not ready.
As a response to this, Kaitātari Kaupapa Here Matua | Senior Analyst Rachel Mackay has created a desperately needed clear and actionable plan. It lays out key areas of focus and offers solutions that many believe could improve things.
Drawing on the experience and insight of the NZCCSS membership organisations and other industry and thought leaders, the plan presents nine clear objectives supported by direct actions that can be taken to make meaningful change for our Kaumātua and the services that support them.
Over a year in the making and developed alongside many sector experts, it is hopeful that this work will inform change and support good decision-making.
Committment to building a meaningful, collaborative relationship within communities, support sectors, and local and national governments will implement the actions of this plan. Join in uniting government support with the expertise of the aged care sector to address these key issues.
The NZCCSS team is actively engaging the wider sector and forming working groups to drive this mission forward and would welcome your interest in being involved.
Let’s work together to transform aged care for our kaumātua and ensure it is fit for the future.
