Metlifecare Take on Wānaka

Metlifecare purchase a plot in Wanaka, for the building of a brand new premium retirement village

Metlifecare Limited has announced the purchase of 5.42 hectares of land in the heart of Wānaka. Their premium retirement village will be part of the Three Parks development and hopes to meet the needs of senior New Zealanders in one of the country’s fastest-growing regions.

The new property is a $200 million investment for Metlifecare and will be the first residential development in Three Parks, which up until now has focused on commercial, retail, recreational and educational initiatives. The location will not only provide its residents with easy access to the town’s amenities but will also create up to 140 construction jobs and will employ 50 full-time staff from the area upon completion.

“We’re really pleased to welcome Metlifecare to Wānaka. We know they have an outstanding reputation for designing bespoke villages for the communities in which they are located. A new retirement village and care home will be a great asset for both the local community and the Three Parks precinct,” said Alan Dippie, Three Parks Developer.

The proposed development is set to host independent villas, apartments and a residential care facility. Surrounded by picture-perfect scenery the village design will reflect Wānaka’s natural landscape and incorporate key features that extend the Wānaka community and lifestyle.

“We know that our future residents are accustomed to high-end architecture and appreciate outstanding urban design, so we’ll be bringing together award-winning architects and landscape designers to create a community they will be proud to call home,” said Matt Wickham, Metlifecare’s Head of Development.

The new project will bring Wānaka a third retirement village, and construction is set to start later in 2023, with the first stage of development open for residents in 2025.
