Resident at Hamilton’s Radius St Joans, Stephanie Grant’s bucket list included shaving her head for cancer. Just recently, this 75-year-old woman finally managed to tick that wish off her bucket list.
Assisted by the staff at Radius St Joans, Grant was able to do so and raise funds for cancer research and leukaemia patients through Shave for a Cure.
“I want to help people living with Leukaemia and other cancers. If it helps a little, I am happy,” said Grant, who always dreamt of making a difference in the lives of those affected by cancer.
Intending to raise $800 by the end of the month, Grant’s campaign is now live on the Shave For A Cure website.
“Stephanie is an amazing woman and always thinks about helping other residents. We want to help her achieve her fundraising goal,” said Julie Mendoza, the Facility Manager at Radius St Joans, who helped Grant set up the fundraiser.
Mendoza also displayed posters in the care home and organised the head-shaving event, inviting Grant’s family to join.
Eight Kiwis are diagnosed with blood cancer every day, and chemotherapy can be quite a challenging and isolating experience. Shave for a Cure supports those affected by raising funds for leukaemia and blood cancer in New Zealand.
