An aged care home in Echuca, Victoria, has gone into lockdown after a fully vaccinated worker tested positive for Coronavirus. Authorities have confirmed the Wharparilla Lodge staff member was at the facility on August 20, but only for a short time.

Covid-19 testing commander Jeroen Weimar said the worker caught the virus from partner who was connected to the Shepparton cluster.

The outbreak in Echuca grew by 10 cases, now a total of 79. Weimar confirmed the worker was fully vaccinated despite testing positive.

The greater Shepparton outbreak in Victoria has been active for over a week. However, most of the 6000 close contacts have returned negative Covid tests and are continuing to isolate.
