Classic has announced plans for a new lifestyle retirement village to first tranche of development at Tauriko West.

As earthworks on the Riverside Tauriko community development go past a significant milestone, Classic Developments (part of the Classic Group) has announced the inclusion of a new 200-unit lifestyle village that will help meet the ever-growing demand for quality retirement living in the Western Bay of Plenty

Leading New Zealand property developer, Classic Developments, has announced the inclusion of a new retirement village within its plans for Riverside – the first tranche of development within the eagerly anticipated new Tauriko West community along the banks of the Wairoa River.

Having recently completed 500,000m3 of preparatory cut and fill earthworks, the company remains on track to deliver the first new homes at Riverside in 2027. Starting from $850,000, these will form a community catering to a breadth of needs to support Tauranga’s growing population – now set to include those at both ends of the property ladder.

With construction on it scheduled to start next year, Classic Group Director Peter Cooney says the decision to add retirement village living within this mix reflects the strong demand from all age groups to remain in or move to the area.

“Riverside, and in fact Tauriko West as a whole, is a vital addition to the region’s housing supply. Alongside our focus on providing quality, affordable homes for young professionals and families, we also need to acknowledge that the Bay of Plenty retains the highest demand from its local population for retirement village living in the country[i].

“We’ve already responded to this demand with our premium lifestyle village, The Vines at Bethlehem. Now, by integrating this new village within the community masterplan here, we can enable more locals to remain in Tauranga in their retirement, in a unique riverside environment that balances rural lifestyle with proximity to town and urban amenities.”

The Riverside development, which has been carefully master-planned around the natural flow of the river and land, will set the benchmark standard for further development at Tauriko West, with up to 4000 new homes expected to be ultimately built here.

Indicating the strength of demand, Classic Developments has already received 100 registrations of interest from prospective homeowners since the first roadside signage was put up in December.
