People's Choice

Voted for by the public, Ryman Healthcare has taken the top spot at the 2024 Aged Advisor People's Choice Awards.

Ryman Healthcare has been named Best Provider Nationwide at the 2024 Aged Advisor People’s Choice Awards for Best Retirement Village and Aged Care facilities. This is the fifth time that Ryman has secured this prestigious award, which recognises the best of the best in retirement living and aged care across New Zealand.

The awards are based on over 15,000 reviews and ratings from more than 940 retirement and aged care facilities across the country.

Ryman Healthcare Executive Chair Dean Hamilton emphasised that winning the Best Provider Nationwide award was a direct result of the hard work and dedication of the team members at Ryman’s 40 New Zealand villages, who consistently provide exceptional standards of care and retirement living.

“To have won this award five times now is something we are extremely proud of,” said Hamilton.

“The high ratings we receive from our residents and their families each year show just how much effort our team puts into providing the best possible experience for those who call our villages home. Everyone, from village managers to caregivers to laundry assistants, plays a vital role in creating vibrant communities that enrich the lives of our residents.”

Hamilton also expressed his gratitude to team members for their commitment to quality and excellence.

“I also want to express my appreciation to everyone who took the time to submit reviews and share their positive feedback.”

Aged Advisor General Manager Tania Ryan noted that Ryman’s achievement as Best Provider Nationwide was a result of the substantial number of positive reviews

received across its village network. She remarked that Ryman truly excelled this year and stood out as the clear winner.

Ryman has not only won Best Provider Nationwide in 2024, 2022, 2020, 2019 and 2018, but numerous individual Ryman villages have claimed the People’s Choice Awards. Last year, Diana Issac Retirement Village in Mairehau, Christchurch, took home South Island Best Large Retirement/Lifestyle Village, a title it has secured four times previously.

This year, seven Ryman villages made the People’s Choice finals and were presented with awards and framed certificates to acknowledge their excellence.

In the North Island, Keith Park was a finalist for Best Small Retirement/Lifestyle Village while Charles Fleming and Kiri Te Kanawa were finalists for Best Large Retirement/Lifestyle Village. In the South Island, Ryman Northwood was a finalist for Best Small Retirement/Lifestyle Village, and Anthony Wilding, Diana Isaac, and Ernest Rutherford were all finalists for Best Large Retirement/Lifestyle Village.

2024 is a milestone year for Ryman Healthcare as it celebrates 40 years since the opening of its first village. The year has also brought significant industry recognition, with Ryman being named New Zealand’s Most Trusted Brand in the aged care and retirement sector for the tenth time by Reader’s Digest, alongside winning Canstar Blue’s award for Most Satisfied Customers in Retirement Villages.
