Bupa New Zealand has partnered with the NZ Nutrition Foundation to offer communities the Just Cook Healthy Ageing programme.
The programme aims to connect people through cooking and teach basic cooking skills, increase basic nutrition knowledge and build confidence for older individuals who may be learning to cook for the first time. The programme is facilitated by Priscilla Collins, who has been running the course for four years. Currently, the four-session programme is being offered in three Bupa Retirement Villages in Auckland, Wellington and Invercargill.
The Just Cook Healthy Ageing programme caters to a wide range of people, from those who have never cut an onion to those who love cooking and want to rediscover their passion. As people age, their nutritional requirements change and the programme focuses on teaching people about reading labels and the key food groups they need to eat to support their health. The programme is an excellent opportunity for individuals to develop new skills and improve their overall well-being.
Dates: Cook Healthy Ageing programme (JCHA) at Hugh Green Village starts May 5th; the second JCHA programme at Fergusson Village starts April 20th, and the second JCHA programme at Ascot Village starts May 10th. For upcoming scheduled dates, click here
