Entries for 37th Dulux Colour Awards Open

Entries for the Dulux's 37th Colour Awards are officially open.

The competition aims to recognise innovative, strategic and commendable use of colour across exterior and interior residential, public and commercial spaces. Entries will be judged by a panel of industry experts on the criteria of innovation, expression and execution of colour.

Dulux Colour Specialist Davina Harper said that the annual awards programme is a great opportunity to recognise emerging and established design talent and inspire industry-wide colour exploration in built environments.

“The Dulux Colour Awards celebrate the creativity of design practitioners who use colour to enhance form - transforming an architectural space from something ordinary to extraordinary.”

There are a total of six categories.

The commercial interior for public and hospitality venues category applies to interior paint finishes of any commercial or industrial building that includes community venues, healthcare and educational facilities, hotels and event spaces.

The commercial interior for workplace and retail category is suited to interior paint finishes of any commercial or industrial building, including offices, studios, retail outlets and shopping centres.

Other categories include the commercial and multi-residential exterior, residential interior, single residential exterior and student.

Entrants will also be considered for the New Zealand Grand Prix award, the best-in-show prize. The winner will be given the opportunity to take part in and travel to the Creative Colour Awards, a Dulux affiliated global design competition that celebrates colours in design on an international scale.

Rather than awarding winners with a monetary prize pool, the 2023 Dulux awards will instead endorse individual and business category winners by showcasing their talent internationally through promotional activity on their digital platforms and paid third parties. However, winners of the Student awards will still be entitled to a monetary prize.

To qualify, the projects submitted must have been completed between 1 September 2021 to 31 December 2022. Projects previously submitted into the awards programme are not permitted.

Entries are open until 1 March 2023. The shortlist of finalists will be announced on 15 March and winners announced on 11 May at the 37th Dulux Colour Awards Celebration.
