Ministry of Health Update:
Vaccination and workforce numbers are up.
Vaccinations are progressing well and the programme is tracking in line with expectations. More than 230,000 Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered - more than 60,000 people have received their second dose and are now fully vaccinated.
The total number of vaccinators who have completed the COVID-19 Pfizer vaccination training is currently 2,900 and is likely to increase even further with the opening-up of COVID-19 vaccine training to all health professionals.
Work well underway to consider how to use a non-regulated workforce in the vaccination programme. This is a great opportunity to provide access to a wider workforce in the roll-out of the vaccination programme.
People are encouraged to register their interest in being a vaccinator through the surge workforce database - DHBs are actively sourcing from this register.
