The 'Social Oven' is the brainchild of designer Magda Sabatowska, a graduate of Central Saint Martins College in London.
The cooking kit is designed to enable communication for potentially isolated elderly residents of housing estates in Sabatowksa's home country of Poland. Through interactive design and thoughtful arrangement of materials, the kit provides an accessible and seamless way for people to integrate themselves into the community.
The subscription box provides consumers with the necessary inspiration and tools to cook a meal. Once the meal is cooked, it is offered to neighbours, who can then express their gratitude for the homemade dish by paying for it with money, or lending favours like fixing things around the house or buying groceries.
